Position:                       Health Navigator

Hours:                    37.5 hours/week, 48 wks/yr

Salary:                      $14.25 - $15.00 hourly

 

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

To assist Health Coordinator and Health Specialist in monitoring, training, policy and procedure development and daily administration of Child Health Services and Family/ Staff Health Education.  Assist the Health Coordinator and Health Specialist in creating and maintaining collaborations with community agencies and Health Providers.  Work in cooperation toward common goals with all other content areas (Education, Disabilities, Family Services, Mental Health and School Readiness) within the Head Start Program.

 

Qualifications/Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, Social Services, Health, and/ or Nutrition focus preferred.

                                             OR

Associate’s Degree in a related field, Social Services, Health, and/ or Nutrition

                                              OR

An equivalent combination of related education and experience.

 

One to three years of direct experience in a health related field, including assessment and training skills with regard to the care and treatment of children birth through 5 years of age.

 

Current training/ certification required for infant/ Child CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Training or an ability to complete the required training within one month of hire.

 

Strong Computer skills, including email, internet and data management systems.

 

Requires a basic knowledge of effective relationship building practices and has knowledge of local Human Service and community agencies/services available to the public.

 

Requires the ability to deal with people at all organizational levels; good administrative, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and oral and written communications skills.

 

Requires the health and physical capability to work in an office, classroom or home setting in the community.
 

Must be able to lift children weighing up to 40 lbs.

 

Obtain clearance to be left unsupervised with children by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), the NYS Central Registry (SCR), and the Justice Center of New York prior to hire and periodically after hire.
 

Pass the biannual physical exam

 

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
 

All employees of ABC Early Childhood Services Division must receive, and maintain, full clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services that allows them unsupervised contact with children.  Any prospective or current employee who has an indication of child abuse maltreatment or neglect, or who cannot be left unsupervised with children, will not be hired or retained.
